Matthew S. McLean​

Matthew S. McLean’s practice at Thompson Brody & Kaplan focuses on the representation of specialty, mutual, excess and reinsurance carriers across the United States. He litigates subrogation cases arising out of product liability, construction defect, product recall, cargo liability and general negligence. He also works with mutual insurance associations and reinsurance carriers throughout the country to offer continuing education and legal counsel to their respective members and client carriers. Over the past decade, Matthew has recovered tens of millions of dollars on behalf of his clients via first chair trial victories, mediations and settlement negotiations.

Matthew has presented seminars on topics including best practices for subrogation investigations, deposition preparation for adjusters, recoverable damages in subrogation claims, the effective investigation of cargo liability matters, the use of smart home technology in subrogation investigations, the ethical use of social media in claims investigations, and liability and coverage implications in premises liability claims. He has also published several litigation guidelines, including an analysis of contractual damage limitations and reporting requirements for warehouses under the FDA Reportable Food Registry.
