Steven M. Thompson

Steven M. Thompson’s practice at Thompson Brody & Kaplan is concentrated on property insurance related matters nationwide. He specializes in subrogation actions of large commercial property losses for various national insurance carriers.

Steve has personally handled the investigation and prosecution of numerous catastrophic property losses, including major fires and explosions. He is also actively involved in coverage review and analysis—having taken hundreds of Examinations Under Oath—as well as first- and third-party defense matters. Steve has tried numerous bench and jury trials to verdict in both State and Federal Courts.

Steve was formerly employed by Kemper Insurance as a Boiler and Machinery Claims Examiner. He subsequently joined Protection Mutual Insurance Company as a home office underwriter in charge of home office referrals and major account underwriting. He then served as a regional underwriting manager responsible for a portfolio of Fortune 1000 accounts. Steve attended The John Marshall Law School while also working at Coregis Insurance as a home office multi-line underwriting manager. In 2000, he became a partner with the predecessor firm of Sneckenberg, Thompson & Brody, LLP, after originally becoming associated in 1994. In 2017, the firm became Thompson Brody & Kaplan, LLP.

Steve currently leads the subrogation practice group and is the managing partner of the firm.
